Northshore Ocean Screening

A Night to Remember at Northshore

A Beautiful Night. A Bigger Cause.

Last week we did something slightly different.

We set up an open-air screening of Ocean with David Attenborough right here in the yard. Chairs out. Screen up. Harbour doing its thing in the background.

Why We Did It

We partnered with Arksen and supported 10% for the Ocean because, frankly, if you work on a harbour every day, you don’t get to ignore the bigger picture.

The film was powerful. Properly powerful.
The kind that makes you glance out at the tide a little differently on the way home.

But what made the evening was simpler than that.

Neighbours chatting. A few familiar boat owners. Someone who “just popped in for ten minutes” and stayed for the whole thing. The quiet hum that happens when people feel comfortable somewhere.

We like that.

Northshore isn’t just lifts and launches and racks and boats. It’s also this, moments where the yard feels like a place to gather, not just a place to store things.

We’ll do more of it. Not because we’re trying to be an events company.

Because places like this are better when they’re shared.

What It Was All in Aid Of

The evening helped raise funds and awareness for 10% for the Ocean – a charity working to make sure the ocean gets a fairer share of global support.

The idea behind it is refreshingly simple:
The ocean keeps everything ticking along – from the air we breathe to the climate we rely on – yet it receives just a tiny fraction of charitable giving.

10% for the Ocean encourages people and businesses to put just a little of their support towards marine projects. That collective effort is already helping over 60 charities around the world – including education, conservation, and projects like the Ocean film itself.

And if you liked the look of the t-shirts on the night (with all profits going to the charity), they’re available to order online: Buy a 10% for the Ocean t-shirt.

Thank You

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us – whether you donated, picked up a t-shirt, or simply came along to enjoy the evening. It meant a lot to us, and even more to the cause it supported.

We’ve included some photos from the night – though, as one guest put it, “no footage will ever quite do the evening justice.” We’d have to agree.

A Little Bit About Us

If this was your first visit to Northshore – welcome!

We’re a working boatyard in Itchenor, offering Lift and Launch services, indoor and outdoor boat storage, and year-round marine support. But we’re also home to much more.

Here at Northshore, you’ll also find:

  • A growing community of marine businesses and skilled trades

  • Flexible workspaces and creative units

  • A friendly waterside café

  • And our own Northshore Boat Club, offering managed access to the water without the need to own your own boat.

It’s a place where boats, businesses, and brilliant people come together – and we’d love to welcome you again soon.

What’s Next

We’re already dreaming up the next thing – more good company, and more excuses to gather by the water.

Whether it’s film, food, boats or something completely unexpected, we’ll keep finding ways to bring people together around the things we care about.

Until then, thanks for being part of it.
