Last week, something quietly special happened at Northshore Boatyard in Itchenor.
As the sun set over Chichester Harbour, we gathered for a relaxed, open-air screening of Ocean with David Attenborough – a powerful and beautifully produced film that left many of us feeling inspired, moved, and more connected to the water we love.
Why We Did It
The idea for the event came from right here on site.
Our neighbours at Arksen, based at Northshore, are global leaders in sustainable marine exploration – and passionate advocates for protecting our oceans. Together with 10% for the Ocean, they co-produced Ocean, the feature film we screened.
So when we had the opportunity to share it with the local community, we jumped at the chance.
It was the perfect fit – world-class ocean advocacy on our doorstep, and a waterfront setting that couldn’t have been better suited.
What It Was All in Aid Of
The evening helped raise funds and awareness for 10% for the Ocean – a charity working to make sure the ocean gets a fairer share of global support.
The idea behind it is refreshingly simple:
The ocean keeps everything ticking along – from the air we breathe to the climate we rely on – yet it receives just a tiny fraction of charitable giving.
10% for the Ocean encourages people and businesses to put just a little of their support towards marine projects. That collective effort is already helping over 60 charities around the world – including education, conservation, and projects like the Ocean film itself.
